         اکنون بسياری از مردم جهان واقفند که ما، به عنوان نيرويی چند ده هزار نفری و متشکل از تحصيل کرده ترين و فعال ترين اقشار جوامع خود، چه در ايران و چه خارج از ايران، اعلام داشته ايم که خواستار جلوگيری از آبگيری شتابزده سد سیوند در دشت پاسارگاد استان فارس ايران بوده و نيز از مسئولان سازمان های بين المللی خواسته ایم که در این مورد اقداماتی را که در حوزه مسئوليت آن ها به عنوان حافظ آثار بشری است انجام دهند. ما تا کنون جوابی رسمی و قانع کننده از اين سازمان ها دريافت نکرده ايم و تا به حال واکنشی رسمی نيز نسبت به مقامات مربوطه در ايران از جانب آنان ديده نشده است و از سويي ديگر مقامات ايرانی در حالی که برخی شان وعده های عقب انداختن آبگيری را می دهند اداره نيرو، با بی اعتنايی کامل به اهميت آثار باستانی اين کشور، رسما اعلام داشته که قصد دارد آبگيری اين سد را، به عنوان بزرگداشت سالگرد ورود آيت الله خمينی به ایران، در آغاز فوريه سال 2006 (يعنی کمتر از سه ماه ديگر) عملی سازد.

         اين امر نشانه آن است که ما با اراده ای بی منطق و ضد تاريخ روبرو هستيم و لازم است، تا با دست زدن به اقداماتی گوناگون، بار ديگر مقامات بين المللی مسئول حفظ آثار بشری را به عواقب اين اعمال خودسرانه در ايران توجه دهيم.

         برای انجام اين کار، کميته بين المللی تصميم گرفته است که از اول تا سوم آذر ماه 1384 (برابر با 22تا 24 ماه نوامبر) را که همزمان است با «آذرگان»، يکی از مهمترين جشن های ايرانی، به نام «روزهای هشدار بين المللی برای نجات پاسارگاد» بخواند و از همه امضاء کنندگان نامه سرگشاده، همه علاقمندان به ميراث فرهنگی جهان، و همه ايرانيان وطن دوست دعوت کند که در این روزها دست به اقدامات زير بزنند:

1.     ارسال فکس و ای – ميل به سازمان يونسکو در پاريس.

2.     زدن تلفن به سازمان يونسکو.

3.     مراجعه شخصی و دادن نامه های اعتراض به شعب اين سازمان در شهرهای مختلف جهان.

4.     نوشتن نامه و زدن تلفن به جرايد، راديوها و تلويزيون های محل اقامت خود (چه ايرانی و چه غير ايرانی).

مهم آن است که بتوانيم در اين سه روز افکار عمومی و رسانه های گروهی را  متوجه خطری که در کمين تاريخ ايران است کرده و به همگان نشان دهيم که بی اعتنايی به اين امر ملی و جهانی چه عواقب وخيمی می تواند داشته باشد. مهم آن است که صدايمان در زير سقف اين گيتی چنان بپيچد که حداقل کسی نتواند از ماجرای دشت پاسارگاد بی خبر بماند.

بدين منظور کميته نجات پاسارگاد متن ضميمه را به عنوان نمونه ی نامه ای که می توان به يونسکو ارسال داشت تهيه کرده و در دسترس عموم گذاشته است، اما هر کس می تواند يا متن شخصی خود را تهيه کرده و يا در این متن بصورتی که می خواهد دخل و تصرف کند.

بيائيد در اين سه روز قدرت معنوی و فرهنگی خود را يک بار ديگر به صورتی عملی و متحد به سازمان های بين المللی نشان دهيم.

ما تا وقتی سازمان های بين المللی مربوط به آثار باستانی رسما بی خطر بودن سد را اعلام نکنند به کار خود ادامه خواهيم داد.

در پی نامه ی مورخ 10 اکتبر 2005 کميته بین المللی برای نجات آثار باستانی دشت پاسارگاد به شما، و از آنجا که تاکنون درخواست اين کميته مبنی بر اقدام برای توقف شکل گرفتن يک فاجعه وحشتاک فرهنگی مورد توجه شما قرار نگرفته است، من، بعنوان عضوی از جامعه متمدن بشری، علاقمندم که اين موضوع را بار ديگر به شما خاطر نشان سازم. وقت زيادی باقی نمانده است و عمليات آبگيری سد در ابتدای ماه فوريه2006 آغاز خواهد شد. لذا، اقدام فعالانه ی شما از جانب همه اعضاء مسئول جامعه بشری بشدت قابل توصيه و مورد توقع است.

Signatories of Committee’s open letter and all those who show concerns about human cultural heritage

Re: Days of International Vigilance to Save Pasargad.

A vast number of people all over the world are aware that we, as a force comprised of tens of thousands of the most educated and active members of our societies, both inside and outside Iran, have requested the postponement of the hasty plans of starting the operational phase of the Sivand Dam in Pars province of Iran. We have also requested the world authorities to take necessary action to preserve those archeological sites that are being submerged by this dam that hold valuable cultural heritages of the world. Unfortunately, we have not received any response to our requests, nor have we seen any reaction on the part of these organizations toward Iranian authorities. In the meantime, some of Iranian officials talk about the postponement of this plan while authorities at the Ministry of Energy, who show no respect for these sites, formally declare that they will initiate the operational phase on the anniversary of the return of Ayatollah Khomeini to Iran on the first day of February 2006. This means that we have only two month and few days to this deadline.

These facts show that we are faced with an unreasonable and anti-history will and have no choice but to resort to different action that would catch the attention of world authorities to this horrendous action of the Government of Iran.

Upon the above premises, this Committee has decided to designate three days from 22^nd to 24^th of November (which coincides with the ancient Iranian festivities of Azargaan) as “Days of International Vigilance to Save Pasargad”. We ask all the signatories of this Committee’s letter (dated 8/31/2005) to UNESCO and other relevant world organization and all those who have concerns and regards for the human cultural heritage to execute one or some of the following actions in those days:

1. Send faxes and e-mails to UNESCO headquarter in Paris.

2. Call their offices

3. Personally visit UNESCO’s offices all over the world

4. Write letter to and call your local newspapers and radio-TV stations, both Iranian and non-Iranian.

It is of prime importance that we can attract the public opinion and the attention of all media to this serious danger that threatens the history of ancient Iran. We should explain to everyone what is at steak. It is important that our voice is reflected under the skies of the world and is heard by as many people as possible, not leaving one person unaware of this looming catastrophe.

We have prepared a text that you can use, with or without modification, and fax or e-mail it to UNESCO.

Let us show our spiritual strength to International authorities, through our united action, once more during these three days. We have decided to continue our actions even beyond those three days until International authorities look into this matter and make sure that no danger threatens this precious human cultural heritage.
