Urgent appeal to all humanists and freedom lovers,

Thousands of people have been arrested in Iran, among them human rights activists, bus drivers and their families. Families of bus drivers have been arrested as hostages as instruments of pressure.

Tehran bus drivers had planned to strike on Saturday 28 January, for release of their syndicate’s leader Mansour Ossanlou from prison and for some of their rights which are being violated by regime. Bus drivers were raided in their houses twenty four hours before the strike and many of them were arrested on Saturday. Among them Mahdieh Salimi, aged 12, was beaten and her 2 year old sister was beaten on her face, which is now swollen and painful. These two children were released yesterday. Their mother, who was beaten, was arrested with them and she is in prison now.

At the same time some of the human rights activists were arrested in other towns which were not connected to the bus drivers' strike.

The lives of these activists and all the arrested bus drivers and their families are in danger in prison. They are under torture right now, and you can save them with your protest letters to all the Iranian officials and International bodies.

Please send your request for the release of bus workers and all prisoners to these addresses:
